Complete Water Filtration System Installation for Hard Water & Low pH

At WaterTech Well Solutions, we recently helped a homeowner struggling with hard water, low pH, and high levels of iron and manganese — a combination that can cause staining, foul odors, scale buildup, and plumbing damage over time.

Our MDEQ-certified technicians performed a detailed water quality test and designed a customized filtration and treatment system to correct each issue safely and effectively.

Step 1: Neutralizing the pH

Because acidic water with a low pH can corrode pipes and damage fixtures, we began by installing a pH neutralizer to balance the water chemistry. This step ensures that the rest of the filtration equipment can function properly.

Step 2: Treating Iron and Manganese

Next, we set up an optimizer system specifically designed to remove iron and manganese, which cause orange and black staining on sinks, tubs, and laundry. This filtration stage restored the water’s clarity and eliminated metallic taste and odor.

Step 3: Softening the Hard Water

To complete the process, we added a brine tank containing approximately 250 pounds of salt to soften the water. The water softener removes hardness minerals such as calcium and magnesium, protecting appliances and improving water feel and performance.

Step 4: Added Protection & Convenience

A sediment filter was installed to protect the entire system and extend the life of the filters. We also added a bypass line, giving the homeowner the option to shut off or bypass the filtration system whenever maintenance or seasonal adjustment is needed.

This custom setup provided the homeowner with balanced, clean, and great-tasting water, all while reducing maintenance costs and preventing long-term plumbing damage.
